I have updated the document site with the monthly reading logs, shurley grammar jingles, and a few other items you may be interested in. I will introduce the grammar jingles on Monday, but would like these to be learned at home, at the rate of about one jingle every week or so.
Thanks!!!

I removed a few desks! Yep. Slightly crazy, but I find great great value in allowing movement in the room - sitting on the floor, etc. With so many desks, that wasn't an option. I now have oodles of clipboards and there are 2 chairs at most desks. We'll see how it goes. But yesterday, we all felt a nice difference in the room.
I'm working on getting a new camera and I'll get some pictures posted for you.
We started novels on Monday and I'm pretty darn excited! I love digging while reading and am working on remembering all the things I did before. For now, I am playing with the idea of having students focus on characters, settings, etc. in small groups and sharing with us as they go.
I had planned that Mondays and Wednesdays would be reading days. Tuesday and Thursday, writing. And Fridays grammar. But I think I'll do Monday, Wednesday, Friday writing and grammar. And Tuesday, Thursday reading. It's always a work in progress!! :)
Happy Wednesday!!

This week we are going to work on handwriting and use picture books to learn how I want us reading our novels. We will also begin journal writing.
- Tuesday - introduce writing fonts, and assign creating your font (5 pages) and your name tag as homework.
- Wednesday - picture book mini-lessons on reading.
- Thursday - begin journal writes and introduce the types of writing we will be doing.
- Friday - grammar jingles!! pretest.
Remember, if you did not get me your essay about one of the quotes and your letter about who you want to be this year, they are now LATE!!

Welcome to Miss Snyder: =)
From looking around the room, and talking with me, what do you know about me? (Don't do the obvious things like, "You like books. You like markers." You are much to smart to do the obvious things.)
As I share other things about me, record the item or topic and then right Y or N if you would have guessed that I liked it.
